The skin of every human being contains a slave.

I am a pretty versatile fool when it comes to contracts,
and business and such things. I have signed a lot of con-
tracts in my time, and at sometime I probably knew
what the contracts meant, but six months later everything
had grown dim and I could be certain of only two things,
to wit:

One, I didn't sign any contract.

Two, the contract means the opposite of what it says.

Maxims in the Rough

A miracle is by far the most wonderful and impressive
and awe-inspiring thing we can conceive of, except the
credulity that can take it at par.

There is nothing more impressive than a miracle, ex-
cept the credulity that can take it at par.

There is nothing more awe-inspiring than a miracle
except the credulity that can take it at par.

None but the dead have free speech.
None but the dead are permitted to speak the truth.
In America—as elsewhere—free speech is confined to
the dead.

The Majority is always in the wrong.
Whenever you find that you are on the side of the
majority, it is time to reform—(or pause and reflect).

Geological time is not money. A pity too; for it would
have abolished poverty from the earth.

Let us adopt geological time, then time being money,
—there will be no more poverty.

We are all missionaries (propagandists of our views).
