lently ill. Telephoned, and Dr. Lambert was here in half
an hour. She could not breath—was likely to stifle. Also
she had severe palpitation. She believed she was dying. I
also believed it.

August 25. Livy's illness hangs on and on from day to
day and there is never any great improvement—never
anything to rouse us and make us jubilant.

Wednesday, Sept. 3. Always Mr. Rogers keeps his yacht
(Kanawha) in commission and ready to fly here and take
us to Riverdale on telegraphic notice.

Tuesday Sept. 9. Livy getting along pretty well, though
